Detailed Biography
Mark Bonebrake brings more than four decades of experience in planning, research, and small business leadership to Desert Horizons. His career includes work as a city planner, market research consultant and director, and 27 years as the owner of a successful food company—roles that strengthened his skills in analysis, operations, and long‑range problem‑solving.
Since joining Desert Horizons in 2017, he has applied those strengths across multiple committees, leading major improvements in infrastructure, cost control, and community planning. As Maintenance Committee Chair, he oversaw a comprehensive review of streets, roofs, pools, and exterior painting, delivering higher‑quality results at significantly lower cost. His work helped save more than $1 million on street projects, reduced long‑term roof expenses through a maintenance‑first strategy, and cut pool‑repair costs by more than half compared to prior estimates. He also transitioned the community to a professional painting vendor model and recommended key vendor changes to improve workmanship.
As Vice President of the Renewal Committee, Mark successfully advocated for relocating the planned Fitness Center to the Clubhouse, improving functionality and reducing costs. His leadership on the Ad Hoc Pool Committee, Security Committee, and Architecture Committee further reflects his commitment to data‑driven decisions, operational clarity, and long‑term community value.
